Blue Hill Bank of Dorchester is incorporated.

Originally the Dorchester and Milton Bank, it is located initially in the Tolman Building “at the head of River Street.” Moses Whitney is the first president. It assumes its subsequent name prior to being robbed in 1850.* The bank moves to a new building on Washington Street in 1872.*
